Follows a Ghenghis Khan descendent who triggers a 70’s punk explosion in modern China, inspired by New York Dolls guitarist, Johnny Thunders.

The documentary uncovers legends and young pretenders in the hard drinking, exploding underground music scene. It charts their rise amongst 1.2 billion people, from dump sites in the 90's, to cult obscurity in 2017, to Western stadium success in 2020.

We journey through Beijing as the live scene detonates. Then to London and LA on the trail of Western influences penetrating this hitherto unknown world, even burning rubber across historic F1 tracks. Our passage, rich in vibrant visuals, finally uncovers the unlikely jewel of influence on the entire saga - glam legend Marc Bolan.
